This will be the last update to Davauer.com because Rachel has a full time job now and we will never do anything fun again. Just kidding! We will still be doing lots of fun stuff just maybe not as much as we did this summer.

What's Milwaukee summer without some fests? Summerfest: Good times for tens of thousands of people (including Adam H). Arab World Fest: Um, interesting... for tens of people. We added Davauerfest to this line up this summer and it went over just swimmingly.

We didn't waste all our time at fests though. We did leave time for some fairs. Mullets and llamas, cows and ball gowns, Clydesdales and cream puffs? It must be the Wisconsin State Fair. Conditions too sanitary at the State Fair?, go to the Ren Fair. I'm talkin' old skool!

Do people get "sky rage" when flying hot air balloons?

I know there was a little boat rage at the Boundary Waters. Pam and Abe came along this year. Pam met her prince and Abe met his maker. Testosterone + cliffs = Weeeeeeeeee. Pam's Dragon Claw was no match for campsite ninja's Tiger Crane. According to our ancient tradition, Pam played some Canadian baseball.

Meg and Joe didn't make it to the Boundary Waters this year so we went up to Door County with them.

We got our west coast on over in California. After attending Adrina's wonderful wedding, we grabbed a convertible and "bombed" Highway 1 up to San Francisco. Mark Twain said "The coldest winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco." True dat Mark. We also had a chance to swing by Yosemite National Park. Um.. amazing, beautiful, gorgeous. Need I say more. Ok I will, stunning, incredible, mind blowing. Rachel turned 30 while we were in San Luis Obispo. She got a chance to have her cake and eat it too back in the homeland.

Agh, too much nature. We went down to Chicago to get our dose of urbanity.

There's Fun in that thar Club. Fun Club puts the Carni in Carnival, the Man in Legoman and the p in Bus Stop. They also put art on the wall of course.

Before this update adjourns for the next few months, there are a couple more items I would like to bring to the board's attention. Dance dance fever. Bazouki and Squeek have a who's-more-afraid-of-who contest. A cat behind a rake. Thank you.

I can't tell you how excited we are that we've moved out of our apartment. No, seriously, we're really excited. We are, how do you say?.. "jumping for joy." But do you know what's better? Jacob has joined us! He's pretty excited too. We were going crazy in our tiny apartment. Rachel was living vicariously through the computer Davauers. Our cyber-doppelgangers had a big house and 6 kids! Our new flat is just as big and real to boot. Rachel is dwarfed in comparison (see if you can spot her). Squeak likes it too, she thinks it's better than living in a cardboard box.

Abe and I drove all the way to Indianapolis just to realize that the depth of our Star Wars fandom had it's limit. However, I re-plumbed those depths in Madison at the midnight premiere.

As if dressing up as a futuristic space hero from the 70's wasn't enough, I donned my skin colored leotard to promote my art at MOCT with the rest of "Fun Club." It was very effective. So effective, in fact, that we went to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to spread the word. Hittin' the Streets, door to door, grass roots, Oh yeah.

"Hey, want to go to New York City tomorrow?"
"Uh.. what would we do there?"
"We could see Adam and Abe."
"True." "Anything else?"
"Well, we could see the Tenement museum, Strawberry fields, a union rally, Al Roker, the Puerto Rico pride parade, a marionette theater, interesting people, a few random cops, and oh yeah, a little kid on a little motorcycle"!
"Well then, heck yes!"

You can learn a lot at the zoo. I pet stingrays and learned that they are surprisingly soft. Other things one might learn at a zoo include: The fact that primate yawns are not contagious even though our DNA is 99 percent identical. No matter how many scary faces they try to make, baboons are hilarious. Mountain goats can be really boring if they have nothing to butt. Grizzly bears fighting is a pee-your-pants-scary sound. fish are friends, not food. Octopuses would put the seat back down if they were married. Snakes and I do not share the same idea of comfort. Peacocks work way too hard to pick up the ladies. Zebras are essentially a much cooler looking donkey with a much cooler sounding name. Finally, I learned that although sitting on a log all day and sitting at the computer all day are very similar activities, a chimp manages to get way more ripped than I do.

We always find time to get outdoors and enjoy the farm, it's residents and it's surroundings. After years of decline, farm cats are beginning to make a comeback.

Bouzouki is now brave enough to take on dandelions.

There are precious few moments when plumbing and music come together. One of the most wonderful is the PVC didgeridoo.

The Neapolitan of natural beauty: Plants, clouds and aurora.

Alas we said goodbye to the beauty of Winter, but HARK! the glory of Spring arrives!

A good beer will go good with any season. To be fair, we toured two of Milwaukee's own: Miller and Sprecher

Remote controlled helicopters, however, will not go with any season (or with beer for that matter). No worries with Adam at the helm.

It's in controlling his own landing that Adam has more trouble. Good thing there are plenty of people packed into a van to help him. The family dynamic is electric! In fact, they should be in a family band.

p.s. Pretend you are surrounded by tiny seahorses... Yeah, this is lookin' good.

Everyone decided to get older in the last couple months. The Sauers were efficient and had one party. Rachel's half had another where Jessica was sad because Nick had her cake and ate it too. Jacob had his own party where everyone was lit especially Jacob and Rachel. Hanna turned "fo" as well and everyone was Twistin'. Joey was jumping for joy (until he fell in the quicksand anyway).

Speaking of jumping for joy... Sumi was put up in a Pfister suite for her new job. Very soft beds and yummy cashews.

Opera man sang, Squeak danced and Packer man just sat there.

We also applied for the reality TV show The Amazing Race. We had to submit a 3 min. video which you can view here: slow connection or high connection.

We're making a habit out of spending the coldest part of winter in the South (specifically Florida, Savannah and Appalachia). Does this mean we're getting old? We attended a conference for my work where I won a national award for a photo of Rachel.

We did stay in the home land to spend some nice ice cold holiday time with both Rachel's family and my family.

Our band took some pictures to prepare for the fame that is surly coming. Rachel and Pam also enjoyed some camera time. Work it baby!

One ring to rule them. Tolkien at the Marquette Art Museum.
